In this lesson, students examine descriptions of combinations of events to find their probability. Tools such as tables and Venn diagrams can help students understand what outcomes are related to the events described.
Students make sense of connecting events using words like “and,” “or,” and “not” in mathematically precise ways (MP6). They must also reason abstractly and quantitatively to find probabilities from the descriptions (MP2).
