In this lesson, students make sense of connections between probabilities of various combinations of events. Students encounter the term conditional probability, which is defined as the probability that one event occurs under the condition that another event occurs. The conditional probability is written and is sometimes read as “the probability of A given B.”
Students verify the formula and practice using it in situations.
Students express regularity in repeated reasoning when they repeat calculations for conditional probabilities (MP8).
