Before playing, students remove the cards that show numbers greater than 5 and set them aside.

Each student starts with five cards. Taking turns, students ask their partner for a card that makes 5 when added to one of their cards. When students get a match, they lay down the pair of cards and write an expression to represent the combination. Students draw a new card when they do not receive a match. Students continue playing until one player runs out of cards. The player with the most pairs wins.
