Lesson Narrative
In this lesson, students practice solving systems of equations including equations written in a form other than . They must make use of the structure of the equations to reason about other ways that substitution can be used to combine the given equations into a new equation involving only one variable (MP7).
- Calculate values that are a solution for a system of equations, and explain (orally) the solution method.
- Generalize (orally) a process for solving systems of equations using substitution.
- Justify (orally and in writing) that a particular system of equations has no solutions using the structure of the equations.
