Students use the same unit to measure the lengths of up to eight objects to the nearest centimeter or inch. Working together, each partner makes a line plot to represent their measurement data. Then they take turns asking two questions that can be answered based on their line plot.

If students have completed the center Estimate and Measure, they may choose to represent their length measurements on the line plot.

Gather objects of various lengths (pencils, markers, books, glue, scissors, shoe, tape dispenser, side of desk, length of bulletin board).
