Lesson Narrative
The purpose of this lesson is for students to continue their exploration of triangle properties. Students add information about angles to their observations about triangles, allowing them to find regularity in their observations (MP8) about side lengths opposite smaller and bigger angles. Students then use that knowledge with a right triangle to observe that larger angles are opposite longer sides and longer sides are opposite larger angles.
- Justify experimentally that, in a triangle, larger angles are opposite longer sides and vice versa.
- Use information about angles and sides in a triangle to determine the relative sizes of unknown angle and side measurements.
