In previous units, students solved Add To, Take From; Put Together, Take Apart; and Compare story problems with unknowns in different positions. They represented their thinking using drawings, numbers, words, and equations. In a previous section of this unit, students iterated length units to measure the length of objects.
In this lesson, students solve story problems about measurement. Students revisit familiar Put Together and Take Apart, Total Unknown and Compare, Difference Unknown story problems in measurement contexts. When they make sense of measurements to solve different kinds of problems, students reason abstractly and quantitatively (MP2).
