In the previous lesson, students sorted three-dimensional shapes and used their own language to describe the shapes.

In this lesson, students put together three-dimensional shapes to compose larger shapes. Students begin by using solid shapes to build any way they choose. They describe what they create and the shapes they used. Students then make three-dimensional shapes (prisms and cubes) from smaller shapes. Students do not need to use formal names for the three-dimensional shapes.
