Lesson Narrative
The associated Algebra 1 lesson is about making sense of the features of a graph that represents a situation. In this supporting lesson, students consider multiple possible graphs to represent a situation, choose one that represents it the best, attend to reasonable values for the domain, and explain why. This work requires reasoning abstractly and quantitatively (MP2) as well as attending to precision (MP6).
- Critique graphs by making sense of coordinate points on the graph, and create new graphs to better model the situation.
- Justify (orally and in writing) the best model of a situation in terms of the domain of the graph and whether it is continuous or discrete.
