The purpose of this lesson is for students to practice extracting information about a context from representations that model the context. Then students answer questions about a similar context given a model. This prepares students for the associated Algebra 1 lesson, where they will be answering similar questions with less scaffolding. Students make use of the structure of different representations to identify information needed to answer questions about situations (MP7).

Technology isn't required for this lesson, but there are opportunities for students to choose to use appropriate technology to solve problems. We recommend making technology available.
