In preparation for the associated Algebra 1 lesson, this lesson is focused on generating and practicing informal language used to describe transformations of a graph. Students have opportunities to make sense of problems and persevere in solving them when describing changes to a graph (MP1). They also have opportunities to make their language more precise when describing how graphs are affected by changing equations (MP6). This will enable students to have this language at the ready. They also spend more time drawing connections between transformed graphs and their equations.
