In this lesson, students solve equations and graph them to see how the solution appears. In the associated Algebra 1 lesson, students solve quadratic equations by examining the graphs. The experience with linear equations in these activities will support students when they do the same work with quadratic equations in Algebra 1. Students reason abstractly and quantitatively (MP2) when they consider what parts of an expression are represented on a graph or in a situation.
