Lesson Narrative
In this lesson, students practice recognizing common errors while solving equations and rewriting equations into different forms. In the associated Algebra 1 lesson, students solve quadratic equations, which will require students to avoid common errors and rewrite the equations into forms that will be easier to solve. Students construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others (MP3) when they identify errors and explain reasons to agree or disagree.
- Calculate the solutions to quadratic equations with accuracy.
- Compare and contrast (orally and in writing) different methods for solving quadratic equations, and recognize when a mistake has been made in the solving process.
