This lesson is optional because it is an opportunity for extra practice that not all classes may need. In Activity 1, students learn Stage 3 of the Which One? center, which was first introduced in kindergarten. In this new stage, called Which One?—Grade 2 Shapes, students work with triangles, quadrilaterals and hexagons as they ask their partner “yes or no?” questions to figure out what shape they chose. In Activity 2, students learn Stage 2 of the Can You Draw It? center, which was first introduced in grade 1. In this new stage, also called Can You Draw It?—Grade 2 Shapes, students continue to work with triangles, quadrilaterals, and hexagons as they describe and draw two-dimensional shapes.
